2014 Season - Week 19
And then there were four
There was a repeat of the big upset as the 16th seeded California Dreams shocked second seed Leamington Spartans 28-24 as Craig couldn’t get a Manning to Sanders score in the final game. There was another upset in the big grudge match as the Karori Visitors outlasted the Westmorland Camels 28-24. David Stampy took a four point lead when DeMarco Murray scored in the third game but only had CJ Anderson in the final game as did Mark, so it all came down to whether TY Hilton could score for Indi and send the Camels through, but despite catching 4 passes for 72 yards he never hit pay-dirt. In upset three #10 Underachieving Bastards sneaked passed #9 Tring Tarantulas when Dan Herron scored in the final game. 6th seeded Gang Green were the only higher seed to win as they beat the 11th seed Rhodesia Rams behind the arm of Andrew Luck. Wayne will aim for his third consecutive upset as he plays Ron in the Championship round, as will Stampy who faces Daz. You could have put together a Divisional team that would have scored 59 points for just $5m, so why didn’t you play Tom Brady (15pts for $1m) at QB, Kicker Mason Crosby (8 for $2m), WRs Danny Amendola and Kelvin Benjamin (both 12 pts for $0.5m) plus two of 14 $0.5m players who scored a TD. But you didn’t so the Championship round is Ron (6) versus Wayne (16) while Daz (10) hosts Stampy (14). Teams to me by 5pm Saturday please gents.
And then there were four
Two of the divisional games were very tense as New England came from two TDs down twice to finally beat Baltimore when Joe Flacco’s Hail Mary was incomplete. Tom Brady extended his NFL record to 19 postseason wins as the Pats won 35-31. Meanwhile Dallas could not get the ball back after Dez Bryant’s awesome 31 yard catch on 4th and 2, down to the Packers 1 yard line, was overturned by replay. Green Bay held onto the ball for the final 4 minutes to win 26-21. Seattle handled Carolina 31-17 in the North West, while Indianapolis was the only away team to win. They defeated Denver 24-13, prompting the Broncos and their head coach John Fox to part ways. So it’s the new (Luck) versus the old (Brady) as Indianapolis travel to New England while Seattle are at home trying to make it back-to-back Superbowl’s with Aaron Rodgers and Green Bay standing in their way.
